The Somers General | Somers

Located across from Somers beach, with views to Phillip Island, The Somers General is the perfect Mornington Peninsula location for a bite to eat and local shopping.

The Somers General first opened in 1927 by Ray Stone and family as Boulevard Cafe & Post Office Store. The heart of this lovely old building has always been community.

Over the decades the store has had several identities, from your traditional milk bar and takeaway fish and chips to an eclectic friendly cafe and store.

Locals Dean + Zoe purchased The Somers General in October 2019 with a vision of once again creating a community hub, with a cafe serving classic, nourishing dishes and a store selling local goods and artisan wares.

With 20+ years in the hospitality industry, this young family, have already brought their trademark relaxed approach to The General.

Dean, with his love for the perfect brew, wanted to provide a destination that offers the perfect beverage while supporting local brewers. Zoe an avid gardener, pots each plant for sale and is always on hand for some tips if you need. Her minimalist approach to living well is behind every considered piece in the shop, from beautiful handmade pottery to organic skincare and artisan made gifts.
